More Of Less out July 25 via Metropolis Records by 16Volt
More Of Less is the first new album by 16Volt since 2017, when Eric Powell placed the group on hold without announcing a definitive endpoint. It will be released on the 25th of July via Metropolis Records. The album repositions the project without departing from its original axis of abrasive electronics and guitar-driven sequencing. A single, White Noise, came out on 20 June. Powell described its subject matter in functional terms, noting that it addresses the sensation of being “unheard,” comparing the experience to the indistinct drone of static.

Description: 16Volt’s new album More Of Less releases July 25 2025 on Metropolis Records. Features lead single White Noise and 10 industrial‑rock tracks.
The release of White Noise closely followed a sold-out vinyl pressing of Wisdom, the band’s 1993 debut. Though previously only available in digital and CD formats, the record received its first official LP issue just two weeks prior. The renewed activity around the catalogue included Negative On Arrivals, a 2024 release consisting of material from the group’s 2016 and 2017 albums, effectively reintroducing the project after a prolonged absence.
Formed in the early 1990s by Eric Powell, 16Volt signed to Re-Constriction Records in 1991, when Powell was still a teenager. The debut album Wisdom was issued in 1993, followed by several full-length releases across labels including Cargo/Re-Constriction, Metropolis, and Cleopatra. The band’s live lineups included various collaborators, while Powell retained full control over studio production and songwriting. In addition to his work with 16Volt, Powell has collaborated with figures from the industrial and alternative electronic scenes, including Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Tweaker) and members of Chemlab and Pigface. The project appeared on multiple compilations during the 1990s and early 2000s and was associated with the second wave of industrial rock that followed the commercial breakout of acts such as Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. Powell has also worked as a producer and engineer across related genres.
