Christmasville UK EP by A Certain Ratio releases December 11
Manchester-based group A Certain Ratio (Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop, and Donald Johnson) has revealed details of their upcoming four-track EP, Christmasville UK, set for release on 11 December 2024 through Mute Records. The EP will be available as a limited edition 12-inch transparent orange vinyl, with only 500 copies produced at Scotland’s sustainable pressing plant, Seabass Vinyl, as well as through digital platforms.

The announcement coincides with the release of the band’s first Christmas-themed track, ‘Now and Laughter’. Originally developed during the recording sessions for their 2024 album It All Comes Down to This, the song incorporates guitar chords derived from ‘The Big E’ and ‘Won’t Stop Loving You’. Its lyrics offer a nod to individuals who provide support during the pressures of the festive season.
The EP also features collaborations with artists from A Certain Ratio’s extended circle. Jane Weaver, who shared a label with A Certain Ratio in the 1990s, contributes a remix of ‘Where You Coming From’. Emperor Machine (Andy Meecham), a long-time collaborator, provides an extended rework of ‘Out From Under’. London-based Jezebell, discovered by the band while touring in Germany, adds an electro-Balearic interpretation of ‘We All Need’ to complete the tracklist.
The group’s most recent studio album, It All Comes Down to This (2024, Mute), produced by Dan Carey, marked their thirteenth release. Featuring tracks such as ‘All Comes Down to This’ and ‘Keep It Real’, the album addressed political themes and showcased the band’s approach to continual reinvention and reassessment with each project.
