Alessandro Cortini Releases ‘Nati Infiniti’ on Mute; Announces New Tour Dates for 2025

Italian musician, producer, and composer Alessandro Cortini has released his latest work, ‘Nati Infiniti’, through Mute. The title, which means “born infinite” in Italian, is available on vinyl, featuring an embossed silver mirror board sleeve, as well as on CD and in digital format.

‘Nati Infiniti’ originally debuted as an audio installation at the Museu de Lisboa’s Fábrica da Moagem, a disused flour mill. The installation was commissioned by Sónar Lisboa 2022 and featured on four floors, each of which offered a unique auditory experience designed by Cortini. The work has been mixed and mastered by Marta Salogni, known for her collaborations with artists such as Björk, Depeche Mode, and Lucrecia Dalt. The resulting release presents a 40-minute immersive audio journey divided into five parts.

The project utilizes the Strega instrument, which Cortini co-developed with Make Noise. Strega was also used to create a similar atmosphere in the original installation, where each floor of the mill provided a different state of sound, continually evolving as visitors moved through the space. This new release captures that movement, emphasizing the interconnected nature of the piece.

‘Nati Infiniti’ was first presented as a live audio-visual performance during Berlin Atonal, and Cortini has since expanded the performance into a series of live shows. Each live performance is an improvised version of the piece, making each event distinct. His current tour includes North American dates throughout October, two performances in Europe in December, and further dates in early 2025, including a performance at London’s Heaven on 21 February 2025.

Alessandro Cortini is a key figure in modern electronic music, known for his work in creating atmospheric and experimental sounds. He has been a member of Nine Inch Nails since 2005, contributing both as a performer and a composer. In addition to his solo work, Cortini has collaborated with artists such as Lawrence English, Daniel Avery, and Merzbow, and has been involved in projects with labels like Mute, Hospital, and Important Records. He has also developed new musical instruments, including the Strega and the upcoming Bruxa in collaboration with Make Noise.

Cortini has produced soundtracks for fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Dior, and Fendi, and has composed music for the Disney/Hulu show “The Bear.” He has also contributed remixes for well-known bands, including Depeche Mode, Mogwai, Death Cab For Cutie, Yann Tiersen, and Vatican Shadow. Throughout his career, his music has balanced dark ambient sounds with rhythmic elements, spanning across various styles and contributing to his expansive body of work.
