and also the trees begin a short series of live appearances in Switzerland and Italy this month, starting 15 May in Geneva at L’Usine. The itinerary includes nine dates through May, with a further date at the Botanique Festival in Bologna on 14 June. The tour accompanies activity surrounding the reissue of their 2007 album (Listen for) The Rag and Bone Man, now released in a remastered edition with additional material from the same recording period.

The reissue arrives for the first time on vinyl, issued as a double LP in a gatefold sleeve, hand-numbered in an edition of 500 copies. The CD version includes a booklet with lyrics and photographs. Six previously unreleased tracks, recorded during the same sessions but omitted from the original release, are included. These live dates coincide with the group’s current studio work on what will be their sixteenth full-length album.

Formed in Worcestershire in 1979, and also the trees developed within the orbit of the early UK post-punk circuit. The original lineup included brothers Simon Huw Jones (vocals, lyrics) and Justin Jones (guitar), later joined by Paul Hill (drums), Grant Gordon (bass), and Colin Ozanne (clarinet, piano, bass clarinet). In their early phase, they maintained contact with The Cure, supporting them on tour and working with Lol Tolhurst, who produced their first demo and later their second album Virus Meadow (1986).

Across their catalogue, the band has integrated elements such as clarinet, zither, and autoharp into guitar-led structures, often retaining minimal studio processing. They have maintained a consistent recording output across several decades, with releases through labels such as Reflex, Normal, and their own AATT imprint. Tours have regularly taken place across continental Europe, the UK, Japan, and North America, with performances typically eschewing large-scale production.

Their most recent album, Mother-of-pearl moon, was released in 2024.
