Ten Crowns by Andy Bell set for release on 2 May via Crown Recordings

Andy Bell has released “Heart’s A Liar,” a duet with Debbie Harry, ahead of his third solo album Ten Crowns, due 2 May 2025 on Crown Recordings. The track opened Sara Cox’s Radio 2 show, though the gesture is more anecdotal than promotional.

The song was originally written by Luciana, a British-Italian singer and recurring collaborator of Dave Audé, who produced the album. Bell rewrote the piece, describing it as a conversation between two people who sabotage each other. Harry recorded her vocals on the day of a Pride event — information that feels unforced, but not incidental.

Ten Crowns was recorded in Nashville. It’s electronic, but not distant from the mood of gospel, which Bell connects to his early years singing in cathedral choirs. There’s no formal religious narrative to the album, but references to spiritual tonality and atmosphere thread through. The tracklist includes “Don’t Cha Know,” “Dance for Mercy,” and “Breaking Thru the Interstellar.” The writing took shape during a sustained collaboration with Audé that started after their US club singles “Aftermath (Here We Go)” (2014) and “True Original” (2016). Audé moved from Los Angeles to Nashville mid-way. Bell followed with interest.

The album will be released across multiple formats: white, oxblood, and picture disc vinyl, standard and expanded CD, digital, and gold cassette. The packaging variety appears less about nostalgia than keeping pace with contemporary physical media strategies.

The UK tour begins 1 May in York and ends 19 May in Cambridge, with a London stop at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 16 May. Audé will appear with DJ sets in York, Birmingham, and Manchester. Other dates will feature Hifi Sean and David McAlmont. Bell is scheduled for Brighton Pride’s Icons stage on 3 August, and a Dublin show on 5 August. North American dates are listed but not yet specified.

Bell’s previous solo albums include Electric Blue (2005) and Non-Stop (2010). He remains one half of Erasure, the project he co-founded with Vince Clarke in 1985 following Clarke’s departure from Yazoo and Depeche Mode. Erasure continues to record and perform; Bell states that work on a new record is underway. Outside of Erasure, Bell’s releases have often been collaborations — with artists including Claudia Brücken, Shelter, and Audé.

Debbie Harry, vocalist of Blondie, has worked across genres since the mid-1970s. Solo albums, soundtrack work, and collaborations with figures like Giorgio Moroder, The Jazz Passengers, and Moby have been interspersed between Blondie releases. She remains active across music and occasional acting roles.
