New album You & I Are Earth by Anna B Savage lands on January 24 2025
Anna B Savage will release her album You & I Are Earth on January 24, 2025, through City Slang. The project is produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy, whose previous collaborations include Lankum and Black Midi. Savage has released two singles from the album: “Lighthouse” and “Agnes.” Describing “Lighthouse,” she highlights its themes of love, individuality, and safety, complemented by understated production.

The album builds on Savage’s earlier works, A Common Turn and in|FLUX, emphasizing a connection to personal and environmental themes. The opening track, “Talk to Me,” incorporates natural sounds and string arrangements, creating a setting focused on emotional resonance. Savage notes the challenges of presenting such delicate material in a digital age that often prioritizes more immediate and overtly stimulating content.
Savage’s inspiration for this album stems from her life in Ireland, particularly in County Donegal. Her connection to Ireland began during her time in Manchester, where she studied poetry and developed an interest in Irish literature, including the works of Seamus Heaney. Later, while pursuing a Master’s degree in Music in Dublin, she studied traditional Irish music, mythology, and culture, which shaped the themes and sounds of You & I Are Earth.
The album features contributions from several Irish musicians. Members of Crash Ensemble, such as Kate Ellis and Caimin Gilmore, along with Cormac MacDiarmada of Lankum and vocalist Anna Mieke, contribute a range of instruments, including harmonium, bouzouki, clarinet, and taishōgoto. John ‘Spud’ Murphy ensures cohesion across the diverse arrangements.
In early 2025, Savage will tour the UK, Ireland, and Europe. During 2024, she supported The Staves and St. Vincent, adding to a performance history that includes Father John Misty and Son Lux. Savage collaborated with author Max Porter at Rough Trade East in London for the launch of his book All of This Unreal Time. Her other recent projects include soundtracking the short film Rhoda, directed by Alex Lawther, and contributing to the collaborative album Supershapes led by Mike Lindsay.
