Marc And The Mambas was formed by Marc Almond in 1982 during a period of activity with Soft Cell. The project featured shifting line-ups including Matt Johnson (The The), Annie Hogan, and Jim Foetus, and issued two albums on Some Bizzare before disbanding in 1983. The group incorporated elements of avant-pop, chanson, and theatrical post-punk.
