Ballet Mecánico Releases Debut Single “No cederé” Featuring Susana Fátima

Ballet Mecánico, the latest musical endeavor of Peruvian artist Fernando Pinzás, will release its debut single, “No cederé,” on October 25, 2024, via Buh Records. The track is part of Pinzás’ upcoming album, Primera Secuencia, which will be released in January 2025. Pinzás, previously a member of the synth-punk group Varsovia, has shifted his focus toward solo production. His new project draws influence from 1980s genres like Hi NRG, Italo disco, and synthpop. The album features collaborations with eight prominent figures from Peru’s independent music scene.

The single “No cederé” (I Won’t Give In) features vocals by Susana Fátima, a former member of the Peruvian band Gomas. The song expresses resistance to neoliberal ideology and the demands of a society that promises progress in exchange for compliance with a repressive system.

A special remix of “No cederé” has been produced by Italoconnection, the Italian duo of Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti, well-known for their contributions to Italo disco. This remix adds another dimension to the track, reflecting the international appeal of these genres, particularly in the Chorrillos district of Lima, where Hi NRG and Italo disco have a dedicated following. Occasional performances and DJ sets by international artists of these genres have strengthened the movement in the area.

The single “No cederé” is produced by Juancho Esquivel and Fernando Pinzás, with mixing by Esquivel and mastering by José Marcos Aguilar Villanueva (ANTINORI). The cover photo is by Juan Pablo Aragón, and the artwork was created by Gonzalo de Montreuil.
