Astoria, Oregon sextet Beta Voids issued their debut EP, Scrape It Off, on November 19 via Hovercraft Records. The release couples West Coast hardcore velocity with No Wave saxophone dissonance, coinciding with a current itinerary of tour dates across Mexico.

The tracklist features cuts like “Baby’s In Detox,” “M-O-T-H-E-R,” and “Brain Malfunction.” Mandy Grant and Carrie Beveridge lead with dual vocals, fronting arrangements that reference Redd Kross, The Contortions, and The Minutemen. The instrumentation aligns the saxophone work of Alpha Rasmussen with Dan McClure‘s guitar, establishing a sonic proximity to James Chance and The Sonics.
Bassist Mike Vasquez handled production duties, including recording, mixing, and mastering, at Sweatbox Northwest in Astoria. Vasquez anchors the rhythm section alongside percussionists Seth Howard and Mickey Calavera.
Beta Voids formed in Astoria, Oregon, as a punk outfit utilizing dual female vocals and saxophone. The band comprises Mandy Grant (vocals), Carrie Beveridge (vocals), Dan McClure (guitar), Mike Vasquez (bass), Alpha Rasmussen (saxophone), and Seth Howard (drums), with additional credits to Mickey Calavera. The group releases material through the Pacific Northwest independent label Hovercraft Records.
