Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson announces More Balls To Picasso featuring Amazon indigenous instruments and Swedish guitar work

The Iron Maiden vocalist will release a reworked version of his 1994 solo album Balls To Picasso on July 25, 2025. The new iteration, titled More Balls To Picasso, features partially re-recorded tracks, fresh remixes and new mastering. “Gods Of War” arrives as the first single.

BRUCE DICKINSON More Balls To Picasso
Title: More Balls To Picasso
Artist: Bruce Dickinson
Release Date: 2025-07-25
Genres: Heavy Metal
Label: BMG
Description: Bruce Dickinson reworks classic 1994 Balls To Picasso album with new recordings, orchestral arrangements. More Balls To Picasso out July 25 via BMG.

The decision emerged while Dickinson was converting his catalogue into Dolby Atmos format. The vocalist stated he experienced “a nagging desire to revisit and reinvent the record” during this process. The rework adds enhanced guitar work from Swedish musician Philip Naslund and contributions from composer Adassi Addasi on “Tears Of The Dragon”. Antonio Teoli provided orchestral arrangements and indigenous Amazon instruments recorded during his time living in the region, which appear at the opening of “Gods Of War”.

“Shoot All The Clowns” receives treatment from a horn section led by Berklee College of Music musicians. Brendan Duffey, who worked on The Mandrake Project, handled the mixing with input from Shay Baby, the original album’s producer. Two previously unreleased live studio recordings of “Gods Of War” and “Shoot All The Clowns” appear on the release.

The original Balls To Picasso marked Dickinson‘s first collaboration with guitarist Roy Z and his band Tribe Of Gypsies, who became his backing group after he left Iron Maiden in 1993. Released in June 1994, the album reached the top 30 in several countries. Dickinson later expressed regret about not naming the original album “Laughing In The Hiding Bush” after one of its tracks.

More Balls To Picasso will be available as a splatter vinyl double album and tri-panel digisleeve CD. The release forms part of Dickinson‘s plan to remix his entire solo catalogue.

Bruce Dickinson joined Iron Maiden in 1981 after performing with Samson from 1979. He left the band in 1993 and began his solo career with Roy Z and Tribe Of Gypsies members Eddie Casillas, David Ingraham and Doug van Booven. Following his 1999 return to Iron Maiden, he continued releasing solo material alongside his work with the band. The Mandrake Project, released in March 2024, was his first solo studio album in 19 years.
