New CocoRosie album Little Death Wishes set for release via Joyful Noise

The duo CocoRosie, consisting of sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady, will release their eighth studio album, Little Death Wishes, on March 28, 2025, through Joyful Noise Recordings. Alongside the album announcement, the group has unveiled the single and accompanying video for “Cut Stitch Scar.” A European tour has also been scheduled to support the album.

The album features contributions from Chance The Rapper and Greg Saunier of Deerhoof, blending collaborative influences with CocoRosie’s distinctive approach to songwriting. “Cut Stitch Scar,” written during a period of emotional turbulence, explores themes of grief and resilience.

Late in 2024, CocoRosie released another single, “Least I Have You,” an earlier glimpse into their partnership with Joyful Noise Recordings, which includes artists like Deerhoof, Kishi Bashi, and WHY?.

Bianca and Sierra Casady formed CocoRosie in 2003, producing an eclectic body of work that spans genres and artistic disciplines. The duo has released seven studio albums prior to Little Death Wishes, beginning with La maison de mon rêve (2004) and most recently Put The Shine On (2020). Their previous works reflect a collaborative history with artists and institutions such as Robert Wilson, for whom they composed scores for theatrical productions, and the Kronos Quartet, with whom they created a new collection of songs.

As individual artists, the Casady sisters have explored other creative outlets. Bianca Casady has exhibited visual art at venues like Deitch Projects (2007) and Cheim & Read Gallery (2012), and directed experimental theater works such as NightShift (2012) in Hamburg and Mother Hunting (2015) in Oslo. In 2023, Bianca published a poetry collection, Au bord du ciel: Heaven Bound, and continues to teach experimental poetry.

Sierra Casady has arranged and performed globally with institutions like the Symphony Orchestra of Amsterdam, The ICA in London, and The Sydney Opera House. Her work includes Soul Life, an opera presented at the Donau Festival in Krems, Austria.
