CrowJane Pairs Goth Guitar With Murnau and Lang Visuals on New Single

CrowJane, the stage name of Heather Galipo, has released “Songs of Sparrows” through Kitten Robot Records, her second single of 2026. The track works in proto-goth guitar territory over an LA noir punk backdrop, with vocals described as chameleonic, drawing on Siouxsie‘s Kaleidoscope-era tonality, the otherworldly presence of Kælan Mikla, and the cold sound of X-mal Deutschland (read our interview with Anja Huwe).

The accompanying video pulls from early goth and ’80s death rock visuals. “The video was inspired by German expressionism and I wanted to have another band performance video with an ’80s feel,” CrowJane says, crediting director Zachary T. Crawford and DP Dante White Aliano. The shoot adapts visual elements tied to F.W. Murnau and Fritz Lang, set against black-painted walls in LA’s underground scene: “The shadow play, the front on face shots, the lighting, the edit were all German expressionism inspired. The band’s look and industrial feel is where the 80s inspo comes in.”

The track was produced by Paul Roessler (The Screamers, Nina Hagen, 45 Grave) and Daniel Munoz (Egrets on Ergot, Cinema Strange).

“Songs of Sparrows” follows last month’s “Reign,” which drew on Suicide‘s post-industrial work and was called “truly unforgettable” by Jammerzine. Both precede the upcoming album Odium, due later in 2026, following the 2020 debut Mater Dolorosa. In between came the Bound to Me EP and the singles “Nomad” and “Ashburn Sight.”
