Skin Graft Records restores the 1994 album to its original single disc format

Skin Graft Records will reissue Dazzling Killmen’s “Face of Collapse” on September 18, restoring the 1994 album to its original single LP configuration for the first time since that pressing, and putting it on colored vinyl for the first time ever. The edition is called “Bone Fragment.” A 2016 double LP had compiled the quartet’s studio recordings after the original pressing sold out; this is the first return to the single-disc format since then.

The vinyl is mastered from Steve Albini‘s original analog tapes and comes with a double-sided “Footlong OBI,” an inner sleeve illustrated by Paul Nitsche, and liner notes by Aaron Burgess, former editorial director at Alternative Press. An Ultimate Edition Bundle pairs a glass-mastered CD in a six-panel digipak gatefold with a 16-page book of comics, artwork, and an oral history assembled by Hank Shteamer, senior music editor at Rolling Stone. Pre-orders include an immediate digital download of the album plus three bonus tracks.

Dazzling Killmen formed in St. Louis in 1990, taking their name from a character in Lucas Samaras’s “Crude Delights.” Drummer Blake Fleming, bassist Darin Gray, and guitarist/vocalist Nick Sakes, all jazz students, were joined later by guitarist Tim Garrigan, who first appeared as a guest on the “Medicine Man” single. Skin Graft signed the band after its 1992 debut “Dig Out the Switch” and put out “Face of Collapse,” their second and last album, before the group split in the fall of 1995, just ahead of a planned Japan tour with Jim O’Rourke.
