Sisters of the Moon and Fire and Brimstone released by Death Valley Girls

Death Valley Girls have released a new two-track single titled Sisters of the Moon b/w Fire and Brimstone. The tracks are available digitally starting April 8, 2025, and the 7″ vinyl edition will be released on April 25, 2025 via Suicide Squeeze Records. The release includes covers of two songs originally performed by Fleetwood Mac and Link Wray, respectively. For those interested, please read our interview with Death Valley Girls.

Description: Death Valley Girls release a new 7 inch with covers of Fleetwood Mac and Link Wray via Suicide Squeeze Records out April 8 and April 25, 2025.

The A-side features a version of Sisters of the Moon, originally written and performed by Fleetwood Mac. The B-side, Fire and Brimstone, is a reinterpretation of the Link Wray song. Both tracks were recorded before lead vocalist Bonnie Bloomgarden lost her home in Altadena, California, due to the Eaton Fire, which occurred in the Los Angeles area.

Following the release, Death Valley Girls will begin a UK and European tour in April and May 2025, including concerts in France, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The tour includes the following dates:

According to Bloomgarden, the songs were initially selected for their appeal but gained additional personal significance following the destruction caused by the wildfire. She described the recording as becoming a key part of her recovery process, particularly through the act of performing the tracks live. The experience of rehearsing the material, especially Fire and Brimstone, became emotionally difficult but contributed to her gradual emotional recovery.

The group previously released the track I Am a Wave in 2023. That single centered on the element of water. With this latest release, the focus turns toward themes linked to the elements of air and fire. The current lineup of Death Valley Girls includes new members accompanying Bloomgarden following a temporary hiatus.

Bonnie Bloomgarden is a musician and the central figure behind Death Valley Girls. Based in Southern California, she has led the band since its formation and is involved in both the musical and conceptual direction of the project. Death Valley Girls have released several albums and singles through Suicide Squeeze Records, a Seattle-based independent label founded in 1996 by David Dickenson.
