First single Obsolete introduces The Sick Man Of Europe’s stripped-down approach
The Sick Man Of Europe will release its debut self-titled album on June 20th via The Leaf Label. The project, operating out of London, follows up the Moderate Air Quality EP—issued on cassette in February—with a full-length that rejects embellishment in both structure and sonics. The CD edition will include the EP tracks, while the vinyl edition will also be available in a limited pressing of 300 copies on “Sanguine Red”.

Description: The Sick Man Of Europe releases its debut album on June 20 via The Leaf Label featuring Obsolete and a minimalist electronic structure.
The first single, “Obsolete”, is available now, accompanied by a video. It was the first composition completed under a set of self-imposed restrictions: no traditional low-end bass guitar, no live drums, minimal use of effects. This approach is intended to break from previous projects and assert full authorship over the material. The lyrical content addresses cycles of accelerated obsolescence under technological capitalism, framed without ornamentation.
TSMOE’s recording process reflects a withdrawal from performance-oriented formats. It favours repetition, tight control, and absence of expressive flourishes. The result leans heavily into programmed rhythms and sharp, minimal structures. Reference points include early Suicide, Swans, and Neu!, alongside British post-punk groups formed in the late 1970s under socioeconomic precarity.

A brief supporting tour includes festival appearances in the UK and Europe, with more dates to be added. TSMOE recently completed a run with Snapped Ankles across the UK.
Upcoming tour dates:
- 4 May – Wanderlust Festival, Southampton, UK
- 16 May – Alternative Escape, Brighton, UK
- 17 May – In Colour Festival, Leeds, UK
- 26 Jul – Deershed Festival, North Yorkshire, UK
- 2 Aug – Multitude Fest, Milton Keynes, UK
- 30 Aug – Manchester Psych Fest, Manchester, UK
- 23–25 Oct – Left Of The Dial Festival, Rotterdam, NL
The Sick Man Of Europe is a London-based project with no public-facing biography. The name draws from the 19th-century geopolitical term originally used to describe the declining Ottoman Empire, later applied to countries such as Britain, Greece, and Germany during periods of political or economic instability. The project released its first material in 2024 with the cassette-only Moderate Air Quality EP. The music operates within a lineage that includes post-punk, European art rock, and electronic minimalism, and the project has performed live in support of Snapped Ankles. No individual members or collaborators have been publicly named.
