Earth Ball Announces Live Album ‘Actual Earth Music – Volume 1 & 2’
Canadian noise-rock band Earth Ball, will release the live album Actual Earth Music – Volume 1 & 2 on March 7, 2025, through Upset The Rhythm. The album captures two live performances, including a set supporting Wolf Eyes at The Fox Cabaret in Vancouver and a collaboration with Steve Beresford and Chris Corsano at Café OTO in London. The album will be available digitally and as a limited 180g black vinyl pressing of 500 copies.

Earth Ball was formed by Isabel Ford, John Brennan, and Jeremy Van Wyck as a temporary project for a single performance. The group developed into an ongoing collaboration, incorporating improvisation as a core element. The band’s lineup varies based on the project, with additional members including Kellen Maclaughlin on guitar and Liam Murphy on saxophone.
Members of Earth Ball have been involved in various projects, including Shearing Pinx, Plan Your Future, Kamikaze Nurse, Eschatons, and Psychedelic Dirt. They have also collaborated with musicians such as Deerhoof, Raven Chacon, Chris Corsano, and William Hooker.
Actual Earth Music – Volume 1 & 2 features two live sets.
- Side A: Recorded on August 4, 2023, at The Fox Cabaret in Vancouver, where Earth Ball supported Wolf Eyes. According to Jeremy Van Wyck, this performance contributed to securing their LP It’s Yours and led to their UK tour in 2024.
- Side B: Captures a set from their Café OTO residency on May 21, 2024. This recording includes performances with UK improvisational pianist Steve Beresford and free-jazz drummer Chris Corsano. The set was part of a series of collaborations during their residency, with this performance selected for the release.
The band released their first cassette, Fruiting Bodies, in 2021 under Misophonia Records UK, followed by the self-released Go to Earth. In 2023, they issued Have One on cassette and digital formats. Their album It’s Yours was released in 2024 through Upset The Rhythm, followed by a tour across North America and the UK.
