Dance Hall Putsch by En Esch features guests from KMFDM and Pigface
Dance Hall Putsch, the first solo album by En Esch in eight years, is now available in physical and digital formats via GIVE/TAKE. Initiated during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and completed as the war in Ukraine escalated, the album shifts from its initial intent toward dancefloor optimism into more explicitly political terrain. It includes contributions from former KMFDM collaborators Raymond Watts, Guenter Schulz, and Mark Durante, alongside Vas Kallas (Hanzel und Gretyl), Mea Fisher and Erica Dilanjian (Lords of Acid), and Hope Nicholls (Pigface).

The album opens with “Get Lost,” driven by compressed guitars and mechanized percussion, and moves into the four-language tracklist with “Yum Yum Beauty & The Nasty Thief,” which leans more heavily on EBM programming. Vocal distribution alternates between Esch’s strained growl and contributions from female vocalists. A bonus track, described as a lullaby, closes the record. In press notes, Esch situates the album within the context of ongoing conflicts in Eastern Europe, calling it an involuntary pivot toward darker content.
The album is currently distributed worldwide on translucent Coke bottle clear vinyl, CD, and digital.
En Esch (born Nicklaus Schandelmaier in Frankfurt, Germany) has been active since the mid-1980s in the industrial music circuit. He was an early member of KMFDM, contributing to albums including Naïve (1990) and Money (1992), and later co-founded Slick Idiot with Guenter Schulz after KMFDM’s initial dissolution. His collaborations include live and studio work with Pigface, PIG, Mona Mur, FM Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten, and others associated with the Wax Trax! and Zoth Ommog circles. His first solo album Cheesy was released in 1993 via TVT Records. He has periodically worked with Rammstein in unofficial capacities and contributed to projects across electronic body music, industrial metal, and related subgenres.
Upcoming performances include participation in the Industrial Nation 2025 tour with Front Line Assembly, beginning in September in Baltimore. In early 2026, Esch will tour Europe as part of PIG‘s live lineup.
