New track Foreign Agent takes aim at Russian state control via motorik structures

Gnoomes has launched ‘Losey’, the title track from their upcoming sixth album, out 4 September 2026 via Rocket Recordings. The release lands alongside a self-made music video built from years of personal iPhone footage, fictional locations, and simulated nightmares. According to Masha Piankova, who forms the duo alongside her husband Sasha Piankov, the track and its visuals operate in the liminal space right before sleep, drawing direct structural inspiration from electronic pioneers Chris & Cosey.

The album follows a hard geographical reset. Gnoomes left Russia to relocate to the Slovenian countryside, shifting their entire production setup indoors. Aside from drums recorded by former bandmate Pasha in Perm, Russia, the duo constructed the album entirely at home in partial isolation.

Musically, the material steers their previous style into electronic territory, linking highly distinct reference points. The opening track, ‘Foreign Agent’, confronts the pressures of the Russian state using a Stereolab-type motorik repetition. Meanwhile, ‘Satan’s Ball’ pairs the literature of Mikhail Bulgakov with the framework of Joy Division over a 303-driven Electronic Body Music (EBM) pulse. Paul McCartney also leaves an imprint; his melodic style informed the track ‘Shakshuka And Pie’, while his post-Beatles rural isolation served as a blueprint for the duo’s own isolated tracking process.

Gnoomes will support the release with a tour across Europe and the United Kingdom in autumn 2026.
