The Factory Singles: Happy Mondays’ 1985–1992 singles collection out December 2025
London Records will release ‘The Factory Singles’, a new compilation of music by Happy Mondays, on 5th December. The release is part of a series of activities commemorating 40 years since the group’s formation.

The compilation will be released on double CD, cassette, and 2LP, with a coloured vinyl edition also available. A separate single-LP version will be sold exclusively through Blood Records. The tracklist features every single the band issued on Factory Records between 1985 and 1992, including “Step On,” “Kinky Afro,” “Hallelujah,” and “24-Hour Party People.”
The audio has been remastered, and the release includes new liner notes by Paul Oakenfold, producer of the band’s 1990 album Pills ’n’ Thrills and Bellyaches. The artwork, created by Pat Carroll and Karen Jackson of Sublime Limbo (formerly Central Station) with Sam Carroll, varies across the physical formats.
A set of digital remixes will accompany the release, with contributions from Daniel Avery, Anna Prior, Mella Dee, Shadow Child, and Paul Oakenfold. Oakenfold’s new version of “Step On” is due on October 29.
Happy Mondays will tour the UK in March and April 2026 to mark the 35th anniversary of Pills ’n’ Thrills and Bellyaches. The Farm and Northside, who supported them in 1991, will again join the lineup.
Formed in Salford in 1980, Happy Mondays signed to Factory Records in 1985 with Shaun Ryder (vocals), Paul Ryder (bass), Mark Day (guitar), Paul Davis (keyboards), and Gary Whelan (drums), later joined by dancer Mark “Bez” Berry. Their debut, Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out) (1987), was produced by John Cale, followed by Bummed (1988) with Martin Hannett, and Pills ’n’ Thrills and Bellyaches (1990) with Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne. Their final Factory release, …Yes Please! (1992), was recorded in Barbados with Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. The band disbanded in 1993 after Factory’s collapse and has since regrouped several times. Bassist Paul Ryder died in 2022.
