Control Your Soul’s Desire for Freedom will be released on 3 October via Empty Tape and Virkelighedsfjern
HEATHE, based in Aalborg, has announced the release of Control Your Soul’s Desire for Freedom, a new album due 3 October via Empty Tape and Virkelighedsfjern. The group has also released the first single, My Gods Destroy, and confirmed three shows across Denmark in support of the record.

The track extends over eleven minutes, driven by a syncopated rhythm and repetition that edges toward the devotional. Instrumentation includes distorted kalimba, amplified saxophone and group vocals. Compared to earlier material, the composition abandons some of the drone-adjacent weight in favour of elements associated with live techno, gospel structures, nu-metal and free-form jazz.
The album will be issued as a double vinyl set through Empty Tape, an independent label also based in Aalborg. Virkelighedsfjern, whose catalogue crosses experimental, electronic, and underground rock releases, is co-releasing the record. No international release dates or editions have been announced.
The three confirmed shows will take place in Danish cities around the release period. Further dates or festival slots have not yet been published.
HEATHE began in 2016. The group’s earliest recordings circulated in underground circles before the release of their 2019 full-length On The Tombstones; The Symbols Engraved, a single-track album that extended over 40 minutes. That release expanded their presence, with appearances at Northern Winter Beat, Vinterjazz, and Roskilde Festival. The lineup has shifted over time, with its live iterations including extended ensembles. HEATHE’s sound frequently includes live-looped electronics, extended percussion, and collective vocal sections. Their recordings are self-produced, often tracked in untraditional studio spaces.
