The accompanying music video depicts the band attempting to contact two black-eyed aliens by marking the ground with a star shape.

Heavy Moss emerged in late 2022 from Djilang (Geelong), located west of Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. The band features Sam Ingles, Bec Goring, Kyle Tickell, and Lucas Harwood, who collectively forge a dynamic musical landscape that draws from their interconnected local music scene. With members connected to notable acts like King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Atolls, Sons et al, and Hayley Mary’s projects, Heavy Moss represents a compelling intersection of contemporary Australian independent music.
Dead Slow was recorded by Heavy Moss between 2022 and 2024 in various locations, including studios, sheds, bedrooms, study nooks, hotel rooms, and tour buses. Tracks 1, 2, 4, and 5 were mixed by Stu Mackenzie, while tracks 3, 6, 7, and 8 were mixed by Michael Badger. Joe Carra handled mastering. The cover design and layout were created by Sam Ingles, with photography by Sonny Witton.
