Voidist Records to release Superconsciousness by Imaad Wasif on March 18
The seventh solo album from Imaad Wasif, titled Superconsciousness, arrives March 18, 2026, via Voidist Records. The release follows a three-year period of tracking and writing between 2022 and 2025, a timeframe intersected by the Eaton Canyon fire which displaced Wasif from his Altadena home. Recorded in various locations including hotel rooms and the studio of Bobb Bruno, the album consists of material whittled down from an initial pool of 34 songs.

Production duties were handled by Lewis Pesacov, who previously mixed Wasif’s album So Long Mr. Fear. The technical assembly involved a process of dismantling original demos to maintain their initial fidelity, with final mixing by Derek Coburn. The instrumentation features contributions from a rotating cast of collaborators including Heather McIntosh of Neutral Milk Hotel, Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Dylan Fujioka of Meatbodies, and Garrett Ray of Vampire Weekend.
The tracks “Believe” and “Echoing” preceded the full-length release as singles, with “We Are Hunters” scheduled for release in late March. Superconsciousness is the inaugural release on Voidist Records, an imprint established by Wasif to maintain autonomy over his catalog.
Imaad Wasif began his career in the 1990s as the singer and guitarist for the slowcore group lowercase, releasing the albums All Over but the Shouting (1996) and The Going Away Present (1997) on Vernon Yard Recordings. Following the band’s dissolution, he joined alaska! and later became a member of The Folk Implosion alongside Lou Barlow, contributing to the 2003 album The New Folk Implosion. His solo discography commenced in 2006 with a self-titled debut on Kill Rock Stars, followed by Strange Light (2008), The Voidist (2009), and Dreadful Light (2017). Wasif has frequently collaborated with Yeah Yeah Yeahs as a touring member and contributed to the 2009 soundtrack for Spike Jonze’s film Where the Wild Things Are, co-written with Karen O. His session and touring credits also include work with Lykee Li, Grinderman, and The New Year.
