Description: Julie Christmas returns with her first album in 14 years, Ridiculous and Full of Blood, accompanied by a personal video for "The Ash".
“The Ash” is one of the tracks from Ridiculous and Full of Blood, Christmas’ first full-length release in 14 years. The album, which came out this summer, received attention for its diverse blend of musical styles, ranging from alternative pop to post-metal. Following its release, Christmas and her band performed at several major European music festivals, including Hellfest, Roskilde, Oya, Arctangent, and Brutal Assault.

Julie Christmas began her solo career with the release of her debut album The Bad Wife in 2010. Before that, she was known for her involvement in the noise rock band Made Out of Babies and the post-metal group Battle of Mice. Her distinct vocal style has been noted for its intensity and range, earning her recognition in the alternative music scene. Her work with Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice further solidified her position in the genre before she ventured into her solo career.
The new album Ridiculous and Full of Blood reflects Christmas’ multifaceted approach to music, with contributions from various well-established musicians. Johannes Persson (guitarist/vocalist for Cult of Luna), Chris Enriquez (drummer for Spotlights), Andrew Schneider (bassist and producer), John LaMacchia (guitarist for Candiria), and Tom Tierney (keyboardist) collaborated to shape the sound of the record.
Christmas has described the album as a narrative-driven exploration of the complexities of human nature, rejecting simple categorization. She explained that the album reflects a mix of emotions, including cruelty, kindness, love, and triumph, mirroring the contradictions inherent in human behavior. The title of the album, Ridiculous and Full of Blood, is a self-referential nod to her view of her own nature.
