Behind the solo venture Junior Pro is Nashville-based songwriter and producer Kyle Ryan. Long before launching this project, Kyle Ryan spent the late 1990s in Lincoln, Nebraska, balancing basement punk shows covering NOFX with country club jazz gigs playing Duke Ellington compositions. After completing four years of programming studies at Berklee College of Music, Kyle Ryan relocated to Nashville in a duo alongside Madi Diaz.
Starting in 2006, Kyle Ryan built a background writing and producing for Nashville indie pop acts such as Natalie Prass, Zac Farro, Liza Anne, Dr. Dog, Molly Tuttle, Josh Gilligan, Eric Slick, Mikky Ekko, Rayland Baxter, and MorgXn. This period also included a decade-long role as musical director for Kacey Musgraves, which involved producing the album A Very Kacey Christmas and its television special.
Written about the challenge of prioritizing a partner while raising a child, 2 of Us stands out as a brilliantly executed slice of modern pop ingenuity.
