Boston funk sextet teams with Tower of Power founder for fourth Cook album single

Lettuce release a new single titled Keep On on 22nd October 2025 through Lettuce Records. The track appears on their forthcoming album Cook, scheduled for 3rd December 2025 on LP, CD and digital formats.

Keep On was written in collaboration with Emilio Castillo, founder and saxophonist of Tower of Power. The two acts connected through shared festival bills and orchestral performances. Nigel Hall, who handles vocals for Lettuce, describes the song as addressing the act of not blocking one’s blessings, drawn from personal experience. Bassist Erick ‘Maverick’ Coomes frames it as a statement on persistence. Castillo was approached by Adam Deitch, Lettuce’s drummer, during the pandemic with the initial concept of addressing COVID-19, though the song’s scope appears to have broadened since.

Cook follows recent singles Gold Tooth, a cover of Keni Burke‘s Rising To The Top, and Breathe. The album draws from tours with GZA of Wu-Tang Clan and Ziggy Marley, as well as the band’s 2025 live release with the Colorado Symphony. Deitch describes the record as more three-dimensional than previous work, with expanded production and arrangement. The album references James Brown and the J.B.’s, as well as Maceo Parker.

Lettuce will perform in Australia and Japan before residencies in Honolulu, Seattle and Denver. A New Year’s Eve performance in Los Angeles precedes a US tour in January 2026.

The band has launched two wine labels, Lettuce Red Crush and Orange Crush, with Aquila Cellars. A recipe book with suggested pairings will be included with the vinyl edition and available digitally. Deitch draws a parallel between musical and culinary composition.

Lettuce have partnered with Music Is A Language, a non-profit organisation, to establish a scholarship funding full tuition at Berklee College Of Music. Fundraising begins at shows in Denver following the album’s release.

Lettuce formed at Berklee College Of Music in Boston in the mid-1990s. The group’s original lineup included Adam Deitch on drums, Adam Smirnoff on guitar, Erick Coomes on bass, Ryan Zoidis on saxophone, and Sam Kininger on saxophone. Nigel Hall joined on keyboards and vocals in 2011. The band emerged from the late-1990s jam band and funk fusion scene, performing regularly in the northeast United States before expanding their touring schedule. Their discography includes albums such as Outta Here (2002), Rage! (2008), Fly (2012), Crush (2015), Elevate (2019), and Unify (2022). They have performed at festivals including Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and Montreal Jazz Festival. Deitch has worked as a producer and session drummer for artists including 50 Cent, Talib Kweli, and Matisyahu. Hall has collaborated with Soulive, Aretha Franklin, and Warren Haynes. The band maintains an active touring schedule and has built a following through their instrumental and vocal funk compositions.
