Pronounced Kroog represents Krug‘s first venture into label operation outside his performance career with Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and Moonface. King is the label’s inaugural artist signing. Krug founded Wolf Parade in 2003 and has released material under the Moonface moniker since 2010.
King relocated from Michigan to Chicago before beginning work on In Your Long Shadow. She performed session work for various regional artists prior to developing solo material. Her musical background includes collaboration with Midwest-based musicians, though specific credits remain undocumented.
The recording sessions for In Your Long Shadow took place during winter months near Lake Michigan. King has stated that geographical location influenced the album’s sonic characteristics. The production approach emphasized live performance over studio manipulation.
