King spent a decade performing in Montreal basement venues and touring across the United States and Canada before recording this album. In 2024, she toured with Krug, which led to the release through his label. Krug previously formed Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown.

The album includes three singles: “Shadow,” “Tiber Creek,” and “Echo.” “Shadow” deals directly with grief and routine. The arrangements move between solo performances and fuller band instrumentation. King’s vocal delivery sits somewhere between folk singing and soul phrasing, though the production stays minimal throughout.

King grew up in an environment where music and language were present daily.
