This collection includes eight collaborations, each recorded with artists active in avant-garde, post-industrial, and underground scenes. Among the featured collaborators are Marc Almond (Soft Cell), Coil, Swans, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Baby Dee, Kid Congo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Paul Wallfisch (The Ministry of Wolves, ex-Swans), and Larsen.
The track “Things Happen”, recorded with Coil, appears alongside other compositions built around themes of grief, memory, and introspection. Ann Robie Bandes (b. c.1961), better known as Little Annie, has sustained a prolific multidisciplinary career since the late 1970s. Initially performing with Annie and the Asexuals, she relocated to the UK in 1981 where she became involved with Crass and recorded Barbed Wire Halo for Crass Records. Later, she became associated with Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound, recording several albums and collaborating with a wide network including Current 93, Nurse With Wound, and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.
Her work has spanned music, visual art, and literature, often navigating themes of trauma, displacement, and spiritual introspection. After a hiatus during the 1990s, she resumed musical activities in the early 2000s, releasing albums such as Songs from the Coalmine Canary (Durtro/Jnana, 2006), Genderful (2010), and Trace (2016). She has also published multiple books including You Can’t Sing The Blues While Drinking Milk (2012) and Sing Don’t Cry / I Remember Mexico (2013), combining autobiographical prose with poetry and lyrics.
