Cassels announces Tracked in Mud album release on Human Worth in March 2025 with European tour in 2025

The British duo Cassels, composed of brothers Jim Beck and Loz Beck, is set to release their new album, Tracked in Mud, on March 7, 2025, through the Brighton-based label Human Worth. This marks their first album in three years, following A Gut Feeling.

Tracked in Mud was developed after an extended break from touring. Returning to their practice space in Harringay, London, the band took a new direction, shifting away from their previous focus on pop culture themes. The album introduces heavier and more experimental compositions, influenced in part by Jim Beck’s growing interest in Converge.

Lyrically, the album departs from earlier character-driven storytelling, instead incorporating philosophical themes and elements of body horror. Musically, the band has moved away from mid-2000s indie rock influences, opting for a more expansive and forceful sound. The album conceptually addresses humanity’s detachment from nature.

The album was produced by Alexander Ross Petersen, known for his work under the aliases Nyquist Noise and Vincent Vocoder Voice. This marks his first collaboration with Cassels since their debut EP. The recording process took place over two weeks in isolation, resulting in what the band describes as a sonic representation of modern societal disconnection.

The release will be available as a limited edition Eco-Mix Vinyl, with 500 copies pressed. The album packaging includes a reverse board outer sleeve, heavyweight insert, and poly-lined inner sleeves. Human Worth will donate 10% of proceeds to The Hornbeam Centre, a community food hub and distribution network.
