The Pittsburgh duo built the track around heavy synths, asymmetrical guitar leads, and melodic rhythm guitar
The numbers are useful context: roughly 25 years between Elesgiem and the next piece of original material, two reissued albums, a limited 7″, and now two EPs released in sequence. Lowsunday, the Pittsburgh duo of Shane Sahene and Bobby Spell, structured their return around a paired release format rather than a single record. The Low Sunday Ghost Machine: White EP came out in 2025, built around the singles “Love Language,” “Soft Capture,” and “Nevver.” The Low Sunday Ghost Machine: Black EP follows on May 15, 2026, via Projekt Records. The lead single, “This Is Not Heaven,” released April 10, is the first track previewing it, with a video directed by Jer Herring.

Description: Lowsunday release This Is Not Heaven, first single from the Black EP, out May 15, 2026 via Projekt Records.
The band formed in Pittsburgh in the mid-1990s under the name Low Sunday Ghost Machine, working in a space between darkwave and shoegaze before dissolving after Elesgiem in 1999. Projekt Records reissued both the self-titled debut and Elesgiem within the past 18 months, timed to their 30th and 25th anniversaries. A limited 7″ of “Static / Besides” is available through the same channels.
“This Is Not Heaven” was the last track recorded for the Black EP. Sahene describes its construction in specific terms: heavy synths on the chorus, asymmetrical guitar leads, a driving bass line running beneath melodic rhythm guitar, and lyrics more direct than much of the band’s earlier catalogue. Spell notes the track moves between a dark tonal base and sections with a quality of brightness or release, produced through the guitar textures and melodic lines.
Projekt Records, founded in 1983 by Sam Rosenthal, is a US independent label with a catalogue spanning darkwave, ambient, and gothic music, with releases by Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Attrition, and Faith and the Muse among others.
