Description: Next To Nada release fuzz-punk single Nan's In a Punk Band on 27 March 2026, recorded at Subfrantic Studios with producer Liam Gunning.
The band, half-transfem in lineup, operate in the noisier end of the UK punk underground, stacking fuzz guitar layers over bass-heavy low end and punk-rock vocals. The cannibal vicar at the centre of ‘Nan’s In a Punk Band’ is not incidental detail: he ruins the band, gets exposed, and leaves Nan with no option but to launch a true crime podcast about his crimes to keep herself financially afloat. The song doubles as a comment on grifter culture and economic precarity, wrapped inside a story about refusing to accept that there is an age at which a person is supposed to stop caring about loud music and circle pits.
The single was recorded at Subfrantic Studios in Bromley in a single session, with Liam Gunning handling engineering and production. Guitars went through a Fender Hot Rod Deville and a Fender Deluxe; Leah‘s bass ran through an Ampeg SVT 3 Pro head into a 6×10 cabinet. Jason‘s drums were tracked in a slate-walled room using a Pearl Masters maple kit with a FreeFloater snare, the snare signal subsequently fed through a Yamaha MT4X tape recorder for saturation. Mixing was handled on a Midas H3000 analogue console. Gunning described working from very specific sonic references, targeting heavy fuzz guitars, a Meg White-style drum approach, and stacked vocal shout tracks. The artwork references early 2000s Britpop aesthetics.
