Bria Salmena Announces Debut Album ‘Big Dog’ Set for Release on March 28
Bria Salmena will release the debut album Big Dog on March 28 through Sub Pop (worldwide) and Royal Mountain (Canada). The album will be available in CD, LP, and digital formats through Sub Pop’s Mega Mart and selected retailers.

Big Dog marks a shift in Salmena’s artistic direction, with themes rooted in personal transformation and resilience. The album combines elements of krautrock, shoegaze, gothic influences, darkwave, and electronic music. Contributions include guitar work from Lee Ranaldo on the track “See’er.” The production process involved collaboration with Duncan Hay Jennings, a longtime collaborator in FRIGS and Orville Peck’s band, as well as Graham Walsh and Meg Remy of U.S. Girls, who helped refine the album’s sound and vocal performances.
Songs like “Stretch the Struggle,” the lead single accompanied by a video directed by Gennelle Cruz and David May, highlight themes of confronting personal truths and letting go. The track features electronic textures and layered beats, with Salmena’s voice anchoring the performance. Additional tracks explore varied emotional landscapes, from the stripped-back “Twilight” to the fractured pop sound of “Hammer.”
An initial tour in support of Big Dog will begin in April 2025, covering venues across North America, including stops in San Diego, Seattle, Toronto, and New York. Tickets will be available starting January 17 via Salmena’s official website.
