A Fusion of Experimental Electronics and Poetic Expression

Noémi Büchi will release new EP Liquid Bones on February 14, 2025, via -OUS. This five-track release combines sound and poetry, drawing inspiration from a verse by Büchi’s mother, artist Marie-Christine Büchi:

Liquid Bones presents a change in Büchi’s compositional method. Previous works emphasized structure and density; this EP presents a more streamlined approach, incorporating pop elements while retaining conceptual depth.

Piano features prominently throughout the EP. Büchi utilizes the instrument in various ways: as melody, as a vocal element, for rhythmic figures, and to create textures. These piano parts are combined with minimal electronic elements, orchestral sounds, digital textures, and noise.

The final track, “Fair Enough,” features the voice of Joséphine de Weck. De Weck, an actress and writer, has collaborated with Büchi on audio-visual live shows. This track extends their collaboration.

Liquid Bones examines themes of impermanence and transience, considering the temporary nature of existence.
