The band consists of Sonny Lanegan on vocals, guitars, synthesizers and programming, Roberto Catanzaro on drums, and Nessie Zorba on keyboards and percussion. Lanegan developed his approach within the Los Angeles music scene, where he worked as singer-songwriter for White Pulp and co-founded The Dead Good. He and Zorba were previously bandmates in PostHuman. Catanzaro joined later, completing the current lineup.
Lanegan traces the song’s starting point to a reaction against the scripted quality of ordinary routine, with the word “crime” functioning as a stand-in for small acts of refusal rather than anything literal. The lyrical approach leans into contradiction: humor used as a shield, irony as a coping mechanism, the impulse to stay composed set against the equally strong impulse to dismantle everything. Rather than resolving that tension, the recording keeps it intact; the edges were left unsmoothed, the vocal delivery calibrated to feel slightly off-balance, as though the song itself hasn’t decided whether to behave.
The band’s sound draws on industrial textures, distorted guitars, and electronic programming placed against a rock framework.
Soulpunx Records was founded in 2017 by music producer and film composer Konstantin Dellos, operating as both a record label and media production company with a focus on rock and alternative music alongside short film and documentary production.
Noir Addiction have two Prague shows scheduled in support of the release: Subzero Prague on May 14 and Chapeau Rouge on May 15. Pretty Things Don’t Last follows on July 16.
“Serve Me Some Crime” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp.
