Remastered by Andrew Schneider with AmRep demo sessions
Unsane released a remastered and expanded edition of the 1998 album Occupational Hazard on February 6, 2026, via the band’s imprint, Lamb Unlimited. The original sessions took place at Excello Studios in Brooklyn with engineer Billy Anderson, following a preliminary six-song demo recorded at AmRep Studios in Minneapolis. Final mixing was handled by Barkmarket guitarist David Sardy in Manhattan. The 2026 version was remastered by longtime collaborator Andrew Schneider and restores “No Soul,” a track previously limited to a vinyl-only release on Man’s Ruin. Digital and streaming formats include the unreleased AmRep demo session.

The original 1998 release on Relapse Records was preceded by an incident in Vienna, Austria, where vocalist Chris Spencer required emergency surgery after an attack during a press tour, an event that curtailed the initial touring cycle. Spencer formed Unsane in New York City in 1988 alongside bassist Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras. Following the death of Ondras in 1992, Vincent Signorelli joined on drums, and Dave Curran replaced Shore in 1994. The band’s discography includes their 1991 self-titled debut on Matador Records, Total Destruction on Atlantic, and Scattered, Smothered & Covered on Amphetamine Reptile. Spencer has also been a member of The Cutthroats 9 and Celan. The current touring lineup for the 2026 dates features Spencer with bassist Cooper and drummer Jon Syverson.
