Description: Chahar is the new single from Ghosted III by Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling & Andreas Werliin, due August 29 2025 on Drag City.
The trio’s collaboration began with Ghosted in 2022 and continued with Ghosted II in 2024. These albums developed a minimal framework where Ambarchi’s electric guitar patterns interact with Berthling’s double bass lines and Werliin’s shifting percussion. Chahar extends this method with a looser structure. The guitar layers intersect with a continuous rhythmic undercurrent from bass and drums, creating fluctuations that build without a fixed peak.
Proctor’s video follows a simple image of a bush moving in the wind. The scene gradually distorts as the music progresses, moving from linear motion to unstable rotations.

Ghosted III was recorded after extensive touring and extended studio sessions. It continues the group’s series of improvisation-based recordings, using repetition and subtle deviation as structural elements.
Oren Ambarchi is an Australian guitarist and composer active since the late 1980s. His work spans experimental rock, electronic music and minimalism, with collaborations including Jim O’Rourke, Keiji Haino, and Stephen O’Malley. Johan Berthling is a Swedish bassist, co-founder of the trio Fire! with Mats Gustafsson and Andreas Werliin, and a member of several projects across free jazz and improvisation. Andreas Werliin, also Swedish, is a drummer known for his work in Wildbirds & Peacedrums and collaborations within experimental and jazz scenes.
The album will be released through Drag City.
