Description: Panda Bear returns with Sinister Grift, a new album featuring collaborations with Josh Dibb, Cindy Lee, and Rivka Ravede, out February 28th.
Sinister Grift marks a new phase in Lennox’s musical path. Collaborating with Josh Dibb (also known as Deakin) of Animal Collective, Lennox recorded the album in his home studio in Lisbon, Portugal. While he has explored various musical styles in previous works, this album is noted for its more immediate and warmer sound. Lennox plays the majority of the instruments on the album, with contributions from artists such as Cindy Lee, Rivka Ravede from Spirit of the Beehive, and all members of Animal Collective, a first for his solo releases.
Noah Lennox, born on July 17, 1978, in Baltimore, Maryland, is an American musician and a founding member of the group Animal Collective. He started releasing music under the name Panda Bear in the late 1990s. His early solo albums, Panda Bear (1998) and Young Prayer (2004), were marked by minimal acoustic sound and personal themes. In 2007, Lennox released his third album, Person Pitch, which represented a shift toward a more electronic, sample-driven style.
Lennox continued to release solo albums, such as Tomboy (2011) and Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper (2015), blending elements of electronic music, psychedelic influences, and avant-garde pop. Aside from his solo work, Lennox has collaborated with other artists, including Daft Punk on their 2013 album Random Access Memories.
