Paprika Lotus Root Chips recipe

Lotus roots are really cool: they have a delicate and crunchy taste and they are a healthy food that look also beautiful.

This roots are an excellent source of vitamins and provide healthy amounts of minerals. 

The high amount of essential vitamins found in lotus roots can help us maintain healthy skin. The Lotus rhizome is a strong source of fiber that helps to reduce blood cholesterol, sugar and promote healthy body weight.

Lotus roots can optimize nutrient absorption through the secretion of digestive and gastric juices and can facilitate easy and regular movements.

They make us able to get all the nutrients we need, and still feel full, so we don’t overeat.

In Asian cuisines we can find these rhizomes add into soups, hot pot, or deep-fried, steam, boiled, cook on the barbecue, and in other different ways.

When we cut them is impossible to not be fascinated by their amazing patterns.

Since rich in fiber, they could be hard to cut in slices, but in this shape, they will be cooked in less time.

Another way to enjoy lotus roots quickly is to bake them in the oven.

So why not make some crispy spicy chips ready to eat?

Ingredients:

  • 1 large fresh lotus root
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp hot paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper

What you need to make Paprika Lotus Root Chips:

  • A large blow

Bake this chips in the oven is a perfect solution if we don’t like to have greasy food.

First I sliced the lotus root as thinly as possible, next a put the slices in a bowl and cover them with cold water.

I preheat my oven to 200°C while I let the slices soak for 20 minutes.

Then I drain and dry the lotus root and put the slices in the cleaned and dried bowl.

Finally, I add salt, pepper, and paprika.

When all the slices seem well seasoned I divide them and carefully put them on a baking sheet with baking paper.

I bake them in preheated oven for 20 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy.

The thinner are the slices the crisper they will be when cool down.

Bake these chips in the oven is a perfect solution if we don’t like to have greasy food.

Is important to remember that if the lotus roots chips are not properly stored, the day after they will be floppy.
