Party Dozen Follow Crime In Australia with Suicide Cover

Party Dozen, the Sydney-based instrumentation unit comprising Kirsty Tickle and Jonathan Boulet, have confirmed the December 5 release of a new 7″ AA-single via City Slang. Titled ‘Mad Rooter / Ghost Rider’, the physical release is preceded by the digital issue of the second track, a studio recording of “Ghost Rider” by Suicide.

Regarding the selection of the cover, the duo reference a specific performance by Suicide at the Barbican Centre in London, which featured Henry Rollins on vocals. Tickle and Boulet have incorporated the track into their live performances throughout the past year.

The release continues activity following their 2023 album, Crime in Australia. That record reached number 7 on the Australian album charts and received nominations for the AIR Award for Best Punk Album, while the video for “Coup De Gronk” secured a nomination for a JJJ Award. The band recently completed a six-week run of headline dates and festivals in Europe, alongside support tours with Amyl & The Sniffers in Europe and the Lambrini Girls in the US. Upcoming scheduled appearances include an Australian run supporting King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Previous recording credits include collaborations with Nick Cave and billy woods.

Party Dozen operates primarily as a noise-rock duo combining saxophone, processed through an array of effects pedals, and drums. Jonathan Boulet established himself previously through a self-titled solo project signed to Modular Recordings and as a member of the band Parades. Kirsty Tickle has a background in the Brisbane indie group Little Scout and records solo material under the name Exhibitionist. The project relies on improvisation and lacks a traditional vocalist, with Tickle often screaming into the bell of the saxophone to generate audio signals. Their back catalogue includes the albums The Living Man (2017) and Pray For Party Dozen (2020), released on their own label, Grouch, prior to their partnership with City Slang.
