Thom Wasluck returns with It’s Closeness It’s Easy on The Flenser

It’s Closeness, It’s Easy follows Planning For Burial’s 2017 release, Below the House. The album addresses themes related to aging, loss, and reconnection. It reflects on the gradual changes of life, including the impact of mental health, addiction, and grief. It was written over two years but recorded in focused, singular sessions. Planning For Burial is the solo project of Thom Wasluck, based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Since its formation in 2005, the project has operated with a DIY approach. Wasluck is responsible for all aspects of the project, including recording, artwork design, and live performances. He also manages his own tour bookings.

The debut album, Leaving, was released in 2009 through Enemies List Home Recordings, a label affiliated with Have a Nice Life. In 2014, Wasluck released Desideratum through The Flenser, marking the beginning of a long-term collaboration. Below the House, released in 2017, further established the project’s direction and themes. Wasluck has performed extensively, including an appearance at the 2018 Meltdown Festival in London, curated by Robert Smith of The Cure.
