Portugal‑based Irish group pôt‑pot schedule Warsaw 480 km release in September
Pôt-Pot, based in Lisbon and composed of Irish musicians, will release their debut full-length Warsaw 480km on September 19 via Felte. The announcement coincides with the availability of lead track “WRSW”, now streaming through the label’s channels.

Initial material for the album originated from solo recordings by Mark Waldron-Hyden, developed during a period of displacement and personal loss. These demos were later expanded in live studio sessions with the full band. The group’s formation followed Waldron-Hyden’s relocation to Portugal, where he reconnected with long-standing collaborators and assembled the current five-piece lineup. The album title refers to a road sign encountered during a drive from Ireland to Poland, a moment that appears in the lyrics of the first single. “WRSW” documents a real event—the transport of a family member’s ashes—and the dissonance between emotional states and surface comfort.
The group’s instrumentation combines minimal setup with analogue distortion and delay pedals. Band members Sara Leslie and Oliver Smith recorded most of their parts with borrowed or second-hand gear, favouring extended drones and tonal repetition over melodic leads.
The album was tracked live to tape in Lisbon, with overdubs added in Waldron-Hyden’s home studio. No digital effects were used in the mixing process. The sessions were co-produced with Nuno Mendonça, whose engineering credits include Portuguese psych and drone acts such as 10 000 Russos and Beautify Junkyards.
Pôt-Pot was formed in 2022. Waldron-Hyden previously released material under his own name and as Comfy Coffin, and has collaborated with artists affiliated with Ireland’s experimental and DIY scenes, including members of The Altered Hours and Fixity. He has also produced sound design for independent theatre and video work. The other members have backgrounds in noise, folk, and improvisational performance.
