End Of The Middle Arrives February via Domino Records
Richard Dawson announces new album “End of the Middle,” scheduled for release on February 14th, 2024, via Domino Records. The album centers on generational patterns within an English middle-class household, drawing partial inspiration from filmmaker Yasujirō Ozu’s works.

Following the release of “Polytunnel,” Richard Dawson issues “Boxing Day Sales” as the second pre-album single, with Faye MacCalman contributing clarinet passages. The composition exhibits unconventional pop elements while incorporating MacCalman’s clarinet passages, which appear throughout the album. The accompanying music video, directed by James Hankins, documents London’s retail locations and consumers, concluding with waste collection imagery.
The album’s production incorporates detailed sonic elements that establish specific locations and narratives. The record examines familial relationships across multiple generations, focusing on the disruption of recurring behavioral patterns.
Richard Dawson emerged from Newcastle upon Tyne’s experimental music community in the early 2000s. His musical output combines traditional folk elements with experimental composition techniques. His discography includes “The Glass Trunk” (2013), “Nothing Important” (2014), “Peasant” (2017), and “2020” (2019). Dawson has collaborated with Finnish metal band Circle and participates in the group Hen Ogledd.
The album will be available in multiple formats: reverse-playing vinyl through Dom-Mart, independent store exclusive vinyl with signed artwork, yellow vinyl with bonus tracks through Dinked Edition, standard vinyl, CD, and digital versions.
A seventeen-date UK tour begins April 23rd, 2024, at Manchester’s Stoller Hall and concludes May 24th at Folkestone’s Quarterhouse. The tour includes performances at London’s Clapham Grand and multiple record store appearances in February 2024.
The first single “Polytunnel” preceded “Boxing Day Sales” in the album’s release campaign.
