The ninth Rival Consoles album will be available on Erased Tapes in July
Ryan Lee West, known as Rival Consoles, will release his ninth studio album, Landscape from Memory, on July 4, 2025, through Erased Tapes. The album follows Now Is (2022) and is partly composed of reworked older material. Alongside the announcement, West has released the lead single, “Catherine”, and revealed details of an upcoming UK and European tour.

West described “Catherine” as a track based on a melodic idea he initially recorded years ago, revisited after encouragement from a close acquaintance.
West recorded the album after a break from music production, during which he reassessed his approach to composing. The project developed from a collection of unused audio recordings, restructured into complete tracks. West aimed to capture elements of past, present, and future, integrating a less rigid and more dynamic workflow. While based in his Hackney studio, he chose to experiment outside conventional settings to develop the album’s sound.
Ryan Lee West, originally from Syston, Leicester, developed an early interest in creating and experimenting with materials. He began his musical journey on guitar before shifting to digital production. He later studied music technology at De Montfort University, refining his skills in electronic composition. In 2007, he became the first artist signed to Erased Tapes, a label associated with electronic and minimalist music. His debut album IO (2009) marked the beginning of a career that has included releases such as Persona (2018) and Articulation (2020), the latter of which was inspired by his own visual sketches.
Beyond music, West has worked with motion graphics and digital visuals, incorporating programming languages like Max MSP and software such as TouchDesigner and Blender.
Tour Dates
Rival Consoles will perform across the UK and Europe in support of Landscape from Memory. The tour includes a mix of solo performances and collaborations, starting with an improvised set alongside Clark and Sebastian Mullaert in Brighton.
