Rival Consoles returns after a year-long production break

Rival Consoles, the project of Ryan Lee West, will release a new studio album titled Landscape from Memory on 4 July via Erased Tapes. The announcement coincides with the release of a new track, Jupiter, which follows previous single Catherine.

The new material arrives after a year-long hiatus from production. In contrast to earlier studio-based work, West assembled much of the album away from his regular environment. Compositions were initially developed from archival recordings and loose fragments, then reshaped into final tracks. The resulting record follows Now Is (2022) and continues a catalogue that stretches back to IO (2009).

Upcoming live performances include a New Zealand debut and an appearance at Dark Mofo in Tasmania. Additional dates include Milan, Rome, and a show at Crystal Palace Bowl as part of South Facing Festival in London. A wider schedule across Europe and Asia is expected later in 2025, followed by a North American run in 2026.

Ryan Lee West grew up in Syston, near Leicester. His musical training began with guitar before he shifted to electronic composition, studying music technology at De Montfort University. In 2007, he became the first artist signed to Erased Tapes, a label associated with post-minimalist and experimental electronic music. Since then, West has released eight studio albums under the Rival Consoles moniker, as well as music for film, theatre, and television, including contributions to Black Mirror.

His work frequently incorporates visual components. The 2020 album Articulation was based on hand-drawn graphics, while recent live performances feature custom video created using TouchDesigner, Blender, and Max MSP.
