Golden Triangle Album to Feature Sex Swing’s Latest Track Boten Route 13

Sex Swing, a UK-based collective of underground musicians, has announced the release of their new track “Boten, Route 13,” which is part of their forthcoming album Golden Triangle. This album, their third studio release, is scheduled for 4 October 2024 through God Unknown Records. The band, composed of members from Earth, Mugstar, The Keep, and Jaaw, will also embark on a UK tour beginning with a performance at the God Unknown 10th Anniversary show in London on 5 October.

The track “Boten, Route 13” deals with the subject of illegal logging. Dan Chandler explained that the track’s title refers to a road near the Laos-Chinese border, commonly used by smugglers. The title of their upcoming album, Golden Triangle, is inspired by the area between Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos, a region notorious for drug production and natural beauty.

Since their formation in 2014, Sex Swing has developed a distinct sound characterized by heavy rhythms, intense guitars, and a piercing saxophone. Their previous albums, including their self-titled debut in 2016 and Type II in 2020, showcased a raw and primitive sound. The upcoming album Golden Triangle is expected to retain these elements while introducing more intricate structures and layers.

The album’s creation began during the pandemic, with the band members sharing ideas and recordings electronically. These early concepts were later refined during sessions at a farm in Oxfordshire. The album was recorded by Stanley Gravett at Holy Mountain Studios in Hackney, mixed by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse, and mastered by James Plotkin. The artwork for Golden Triangle was designed by Alex Bunn, continuing the collaboration between the band and the artist.

Sex Swing will perform live at the God Unknown Records 10th Anniversary show at Walthamstow Trades Hall in London on 5 October 2024. The event will feature performances by Duke Garwood, Rainbow Grave, Sneers, Cassels, and others. Following this, the band will continue their UK tour with additional dates in December.
