Josh Haden Spain The Blue Moods of Spain 30th Anniversary Rhino Records Release Tour

Rhino Records will issue a 30th anniversary double vinyl edition of Spain’s debut album ‘The Blue Moods of Spain’ on 3 October 2025. The reissue arrives three decades after the original 1995 release, which positioned Josh Haden’s Los Angeles project within the emerging slowcore movement.

Description: Spain announces 30th anniversary vinyl reissue of The Blue Moods of Spain via Rhino Records October 2025, plus European tour dates.

The album produced ‘Spiritual’, a track later recorded by Johnny Cash for his American Recordings series. The 14-minute ‘World Of Blue’ and ‘Untitled #1’ established the band’s approach to extended atmospheric compositions. Rhino has remastered the recordings for vinyl, marking the first pressing in over ten years.

Spain will perform the album across European venues from 31 October through 23 November 2025. The tour begins at Effenaar in Eindhoven and concludes at Kollektivet Livet Bar & Scen in Stockholm. Dates include Mono in Glasgow, Moth Club in London, and Frannz Club in Berlin.

Josh Haden established Spain in Los Angeles during 1993. The bassist and vocalist drew from his father Charlie Haden’s jazz background while incorporating elements from The Velvet Underground and Cowboy Junkies.

Spain released ‘She Haunts My Dreams’ in 1999 and ‘I Believe’ in 2001 before Haden paused the project. During this period, he contributed to Handsome Boy Modeling School recordings with Dan the Automator and Prince Paul. Later Spain albums include ‘The Soul of Spain’ (2012), ‘Sargent Place’ (2014), ‘Carolina’ (2016), and ‘Mandala Brush’ (2018).

The European tour will present ‘The Blue Moods of Spain’ material alongside selections from Spain’s catalog. Venues range from Time Zones Festival in Bari to the John Peel Centre for Performing Arts in Stowmarket. The band performs at Petit Bain in Paris on 9 November and Loppen in Copenhagen on 20 November.
