Tempers Pays Homage to Suicide’s “Ghost Rider”

Jasmine Golestaneh Leads Tempers’ Synth-Driven Explorations on “New Meaning”

The New York-based musical act Tempers has carved out a unique niche, incorporating elements of synth-pop, techno, shoegaze, and post-punk into an engaging and introspective sound. At the core of the project is singer-songwriter Jasmine Golestaneh, whose poetic lyricism and ethereal vocals give Tempers its emotive foundation.

Description: Tempers offers a fresh perspective on Suicide's "Ghost Rider" on their latest album "New Meaning" (Dais Records, 2022).

Golestaneh’s artistic path has been shaped by her upbringing, split between the urban landscapes of London and New York. Tempers first gained recognition with their 2017 EP “Fundamental Fantasy,” a result of the group’s artist residency on the remote Aeolian island of Stromboli. This was followed by the ambitious 2018 concept album “Junkspace feat. Rem Koolhaas,” which utilized samples and collaboration with the renowned architect to explore the architecture of consumerism.

The group’s 2019 full-length “Private Life” further solidified their cinematic, inward-looking approach, featuring their most popular track to date, “Capital Pains.” Their latest album, New Meaning (2022), represents the band’s ongoing development, featuring singles such as “Unfamiliar” alongside a 3D animated video for “Sightseeing.”

Tempers’ newest material was produced in collaboration with Jorge Elbrecht, known for his work with acts like Sky Ferreira and Japanese Breakfast. This recent creative partnership has helped shape the group’s latest sonic direction, blending Golestaneh’s poetic sensibilities with Elbrecht’s production expertise.

In a recent statement, Golestaneh discussed the group’s cover of the Suicide classic “Ghost Rider,” noting that the song “represents prioritizing the health of society over personal greed, a value that is as deeply pertinent today as it was in the 70’s when this song was released.“
