Description: The Church announce rescheduled 2026 North American tour dates. The run features career-spanning singles and material from The Hypnogogue.
The setlist draws from a discography that includes the 1980 debut Of Skins and Heart, 1988’s Starfish, and the 1992 album Priest=Aura. Specifically, the band will perform “The Unguarded Moment,” “Reptile,” “Under the Milky Way,” “Metropolis,” “Tantalized,” and “Ripple.” The tour also incorporates “C’est La Vie” from the 2023 studio album The Hypnogogue. This record, a thematic work centered on a dystopian narrative involving a dream extraction device, was followed by the 2024 companion release Eros Zeta and the Perfumed Guitars.
In November 2025, the group released the single “Sacred Echoes (Part Two).” This track features a varied dynamic structure, shifting between sparse arrangements and orchestral sections. According to bassist and vocalist Steve Kilbey, the song’s composition utilizes contrasting levels of intensity and a sombre lyrical tone.
Formed in Sydney in 1980, The Church initially consisted of Steve Kilbey, Peter Koppes, Nick Ward, and Marty Willson-Piper. Their early work was associated with the neo-psychedelic and new wave movements, though later releases incorporated elements of dream pop and post-rock. The band’s commercial peak arrived with the 1988 album Starfish, which was certified Gold in the United States and produced the hit “Under the Milky Way.” Kilbey has remained the only consistent member throughout several lineup changes. Former members include drummer Jay Dee Daugherty, formerly of the Patti Smith Group, and guitarist Willson-Piper. The current lineup includes long-term drummer and producer Tim Powles, who joined in 1994, alongside guitarists Ian Haug (formerly of Powderfinger), Jeffrey Cain (formerly of Remy Zero), and Ashley Naylor. In 2010, the group was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
