Replaced By Robots has released The Experiment, a five-track mini-album issued independently, accompanied by three video works. The recordings include production input from Paul Q. Kolderie (Pixies, Radiohead, Throwing Muses), Josh Hager (Devo, The Elevator Drops), and mastering by Terry Palmer. Description: Replaced By Robots self-release The Experiment on April 2025 with five tracks and three video pieces, featuring production by Paul Q. Kolderie and Josh Hager.
The group is based in New Hampshire and consists of Goolkasian, Heather Joy Morgan, and Adam Wade. Their collaboration began after a meeting during a Chameleons UK house show, leading to a series of studio sessions informed by glam-pop references and post-punk arrangements. The band’s structure revolves around shared vocal duties, multi-instrumental contributions, and visual design elements handled internally.
Tracks such as All The Lonely Nights and Are We Falling in Love or Am I Just Losing My Mind were produced externally. Kolderie handled the former, pushing instrumentation into saturation, while Hager oversaw the latter, constructed with a reference grid that includes Buzzcocks, T-Rex, and Jarboe. The remaining material was produced and mixed by Goolkasian. The band’s description of the sessions references a deliberate process of compiling materials and sounds without deference to genre cohesion or contemporary production trends.
The videos for the tracks were conceived and created by Goolkasian.
Goolkasian’s previous projects include The Elevator Drops, signed to Arista/Timebomb in the late 1990s, with tour history alongside Echo & The Bunnymen, Pulp, and Garbage. Subsequent work included projects under the names The Texas Governor and Lovesick. Morgan holds an MFA from Yale University and works across visual and audio mediums. Wade has performed in bands including Funeral Party and The Uprisers, maintaining a consistent presence in underground punk and goth-leaning scenes.
