Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz reassemble The Living Pins with new material recorded in Austin

Austin’s The Living Pins released Gold on 28 February via The Cosmic Clash. The track, recorded and produced by Chris “Frenchie” Smith at The Bubble Studios, is the group’s first output of 2025 and precedes another single from the same sessions, expected later this spring.

Founded in the 1990s by Carrie Clark and Pam Peltz, the group originally played sets of covers—T. Rex, The Kinks, Roxy Music—across local venues alongside bands such as Spoon, Ed Hall, and Fastball. After a long hiatus, the project resurfaced in 2020 with the Freaky Little Monster Children EP, recorded during lockdown in an eastside warehouse with Jeff Copas (also of Sixteen Deluxe) handling production.

Gold features Clark and Peltz on guitars and vocals, Bobby Daniel on bass, and Kristy McInnis on drums and bongos. Daniel has worked as a touring bassist for Fastball, while McInnis was previously part of The Bluebonnets, a band led by Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go’s.

Recent recordings include 2022 singles Oh Yeah and Chateau, also produced by Smith, and the 2023 EP Let It Be So, which received airplay from WTUL and was played by Simon Le Bon and Katy Krassner on SiriusXM’s WHOOOSH!.

Clark was formerly a member of Sixteen Deluxe, active on Trance Syndicate and later Warner Bros. Records. Peltz produced recordings for Daniel Johnston, including material from his early cassette-based output.
